Chris and Val tip-toeing throught the
"tulips". About 15 minutes into the walk from
Olinda Golf Club to the Graham Colling Reserve
at Mt Evelyn
Morning tea at the Valley Picnic site in the forest
below Olinda and the Rhododendron Gardens
This was a very steep descent - with loose stones
demanding extremely careful stepping.
The stile leading to the Mt Evelyn Recreation
Reserve - where we had lunch, more or less
on schedule
The final stage along the Warburton trail. Tired
but pleased - and a little warm!

The first "official" mid-week walk, led by
Arnis at the Gurdies. We had good weather
and enjoyed the outing (except for the mosquitoes
at Warneet!).
Janine, Val and Barbara joined Arnis and me
for this outing. Barbara took the pic.
The paths were fine and it was good walking
in the rural bush
We had lunch at this spot.

Our epic hike to the top - led by Haydn. A
tough day at the office!
Boots back on, nearly ready to get going after
crossing a creek where the cars were parked.
Approaching the Donnelly's weir picnic area.
The road had been closed because of extensive
erosion (and some full creeks).
The lovely setting of Donelly's weir. There
was a lot of water in the streams and every-
thing was a brilliant green.
A first and distant glimpse of our destination.
The communications mast is adjacent to the
viewing platform.
The track was in good nick and the weather
kind - the gradient less so.
The going was very tough - but this display
was for the record!
A sense of achievement on summiting. Pic
taken from viewing platform as Debbie entered
the final few metres.
We started at about 200 metres and climbed
the balance of 810 metres over 8 kms.
The wonderful view from the viewing platform.
We had our lunch there with other hikers.
The final trip across the creek. Debbie travelled
first class, while the rest of us got our feet wet.

A late submission from Barbara. Our first
creek crossing, sans footwear.

On the way. A walk through Harkaway led
by Chris.
A welcoming committee awaited us at the
crest of one hill
Our first creek challenge. The rocks placed
were too spread and most of us took off boots
and waded across. Mud and leeches!!
