Lorraine's walk along the Toomuc Creek and including
a visit to an old quarry.  We had a good turnout under
a rather grey sky.

Tea time at the lake - perhaps the photographer
should have canned this one!  See the next pic for
a happy snap!

Tea time at the lake side - this group seemed to be
having a cheerier time!

This pic is included for the colours - particularly the
darker shades on the left.  Group exits stage on the
right!

The group at the floor of the quarry - most looking at
the camera for a change!

A much photographed gazebo!  The composition leads
the eye into the pic - quite a remake for an old quarry!

Lorraine spotted this pic for me - spoilt a bit by not
being as clear as it should be

Lunch at the starting point.  Some of the group then
continued to another old quarry nearby (others, like
the blogger, went for coffee)

Mountain Gentian (Gentianella diemensis) found in
Alpine areas - during the Baw Baw hike.  Pic from
Arnis

A pic by Arnis - he feels the blogger must get into
the pics!  On the Alpine Track.

Sunday's walk at Wonthaggi; Gwenda took this pic
and emailed it to me - nice composition and good
exposure.

Arnis lead this midweek walk from the Mt Erica car
park to the Mt St Gwinear car park in the Mt Baw Baw
National Park - a total of 16 kms.
We left Chris' house at 07:30 and got back just
before 19:00!  The weather was great and we enjoyed
a challenging day's hike in the mountains.

This picture is typical of the forest through which we
hiked for 90% of the walk.  The trees were closely
packed and the splendid views were kept secret.

Mushroom Rock - amongst several other huge
specimens.  We nearly missed this landmark as it
is back from the track and higher.

The hike to the summit of Mt Erica was long, steep
and hard going.  Many stops along the way, but we
got there!

We think this is an overnight camping spot for hikers
walking the Great Alpine Track.  The fire can be nice
and hot against the potentially freezing weather.

A most welcome confirmation of not missing the vital
path back to civilisation - after a long hard slog along
the mountain ridge from Mt Erica - with lots of mud
on the path.  Thank heavens we didn't do the walk the
previous week!!

High up on the Great Alpine Track, Mt St Gwinear
gets to 1509 metres.

The cairn at the peak of Mt St Gwinear - not nearly
as much a climb as Mt Erica (one starts much higher).

The most welcome sight!  A change of transport at
last - next the shuttle to Mt Erica car park and the
long journey home.

Janine's walk from Wonthaggi to Kilcunda.  Here the
group is just leaving the car park - and, yes, that's
Janine up front!

Tea stop at the side of the trail - evidently the site of
a station that was never built.

Cattle country with accompanying flies.

A small cottage next to the trail - and the one next
door was even smaller!

When needs must - missed the applause when the
occupant emerged!!
